SIRIUS XM Radio Mobile is using QuickPlay’s OpenVideo™ platform to power its new application for the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch devices. For the first time SIRIUS XM Internet customers can enjoy and easily navigate more than 120 highly popular talk, news, comedy, sports and 100% commercial-free music channels on Apple devices. The audio streaming service runs over both cellular and Wi-Fi networks and is available free of charge to current Sirius XM Internet subscribers. Consumers also have the ability to sample SIRIUS XM Internet content through a free, on-line pass. Subscribers can also buy their favorite songs by using the on demand options to “Buy Now from iTunes” or “Bookmark & Buy Later.”
The application’s exceptional programming lineup includes SIRIUS XM’s most popular channels and new exclusive showcase channels created for Internet users. All SIRIUS XM Radio channels are easily accessed via a simple user interface which features graphical icons for content genres and channels. While listening to a selected item, listeners can view the song title, artist and album. They can also see what’s currently playing on any of the other XM Radio Mobile channels, ensuring they never miss out on hearing a favorite song. As subscribers enjoy music, the service also offers features that allow them to create and add to a list of their favorite songs, bookmark tunes and purchase them immediately or at a later time through iTunes.
There is no additional charge for adding the application and listening to SIRIUS XM’s programming on the iPhone or iPod Touch, for Internet subscribers. Existing satellite subscribers can add both internet and iphone access for just $2.99/month. Current satellite customers and new users can also download the service for free, try it out on their computer and iPhone or iPod Touch, and then sign up.
